What about my privacy?
We are dedicated to the protection of consumer
privacy. Streaming Media
Defender™ is a
software system that was designed to protect the privacy of the consumer
in every conceivable method. Live Square is an independent,
privately held company, that is not required to share or release
information about its consumers.
The system is designed to gather the minimal amount
of information necessary to execute the security functions we are asked
to perform by our clients. Information gathering is restricted by
policy to only those pieces of relevant information necessary to protect
media and serve support requests.
Why am I required by the Streaming Media
Defender™ plug-in
to register?
Your registration information is sent to our private
systems. We request your name, email, and phone number for support
purposes only. This information is not used to identify you, or your
viewing habits to a third party. When our software terminates a media stream it is
necessary that we have the ability to report the reason or reasons for the
discontinued stream, and the impacted consumer. We request the
consumer's contact information so we may assist in resolving
the issue. The consumer's information is not made available to any
third party unless; the consumer's consents to the release of the support
information (typically to the support department of the media provider)
and the information is for the express purpose of resolving a support
related issue.
The consumer's registration information is not
sold, rented, or in any other way shared with third parties unless expressly
authorized as indicated above.
What data is collected about me?
Minimal registration information for purposes of
consumer identification during support calls. If a stream violation occurs,
information regarding the nature of the violation, the IP address from where
the violation took place, and the time of the violation is recorded and kept
with the consumer's record. This information is stored for the
purposes of enabling support requests relating to media stream terminations.
When a consumer is granted a Digital Rights Management license, the license
information is stored by our systems for purposes of enforcement and
enabling access to the media purchased or permitted to the consumer.
Digital Rights Management licenses are provided from our clients to our
systems, never from our systems to the client's systems. This allows
us to preserve consumer privacy from clients that may not have privacy
policies as strong as ours. In all cases, no information about the
consumer is made available to any third party without there being a direct
commercial relationship and the knowledge of the consumer.
The bottom line is that we will continue to make
every reasonable effort to protect the privacy of our consumers.
